Celebrating 50 years of Brymec!

Brymec, the family-owned, award-winning manufacturer and supplier of M&E solutions for the building services industry, is turning 50. We’ve come a long way since 1974 when founder Brian Reiner put £50 of his own money to set up a business selling tools from his shed. It’s been an eventful half-century in business, with its fair share of highlights.

It’s been quite the ride – the industry has changed so much over the last 50 years and Brymec has grown in concert with these developments. The more time has passed, the more we’ve sought to get out in front of the market.

You can see this with our journey to carbon neutral and alignment with the UN Sustainable Development goals, not to mention Brymec Breeze, our innovative new supply chain model where we’ve removed all the middlemen, so customers only have to deal with one single point of contact. It’s also evident on our brand new website, especially with the MyBrymec customer ordering portal.

We strongly believe the sum is as important as its parts, which is why we devote equal attention to all aspects of our business – manufacturing
products, service, supply chain, and customer relations.

For mechanical projects to run efficiently and without delay, all parts of our business must do the same. This is part of the Brymec difference.

We couldn’t have made it to our half-century without our customers’ support and valued input. We’ve learned so much from all of our customers, and it’s helped us adapt and grow. Our team, who are at the heart of everything we do, have also been invaluable to our success.

We’re looking forward to adding the next chapter to our story.

Since 2013, we’ve opened two new Central Distribution Centres. The first covered 24,000 square feet, however, as we were expanding so rapidly, we needed more space almost immediately. This led us to move to another new Central Distribution Centre just six years later near Gatwick Airport that’s over double the size.

Our product range has also progressively diversified as we’ve grown. At first, we added air conditioning accessories and then plumbing and ventilation products. Our range is now immense, covering practically everything the M&E building services industry needs – supply systems, drainage systems, valves, site supports and fixings, consumables, tools and accessories.

We’ve always approached what we do with eyes wide open, looking for opportunities to make life easier and more productive for customers. In turn, through the adoption of our innovative product and service solutions, we hope to positively transform how the entire M&E building services sector operates.

Our dedication to providing the highest quality, future-proofed product solutions inspired us to introduce Brymec-manufactured and branded products in 2018. These now make up the majority of products available through us and this range will continue to grow, as we gradually replace more third-party products.

One of the ways we stand apart is that we understand that an efficient building site is about far more than just product, quality products may be our specialty, but they’re only one piece of the puzzle. An efficient building project is also about service, and the people providing that service.

This was behind our digitisation drive and introduction of an online ordering function with an ultrafast system implementation. We also implemented new ERP and CRM systems to improve the customer journey and just recently launched a user-friendly website showcasing our innovative MyBrymec customer portal.

A centralised project hub, My Brymec helps customers manage orders, quotations and invoices, track budgets, schedules and deliverables. Customers can also access all relevant product resources, technical information and our comprehensive spend reporting functionality.

All the best products and services in the world are pointless if the supply chain is not up to speed.

We recognised this, building an in-house driver network and increasing our fleet size, whilst centralising key functions. Once our fleet was large enough and our work process fully streamlined, we went one step further and introduced Brymec Breeze in 2023.

 

The culmination of a 50-year journey, Brymec Breeze brings new levels of certainty and profitability to every building project. However, Brymec Breeze is merely the end of the beginning – the foundations of an even brighter future.

We’re continuously searching for new and innovative ways to improve what we do and make the industry more efficient, moving beyond the traditional customer/supplier model towards collaborative project-centric partnerships.

We’re already carbon neutral and have elevated sustainability to a core business pillar, increasingly focused on protecting tomorrow in the way we work. We aim to become the greenest environmentally friendly supplier to the building services industry and have aligned our business to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
